April Green Drinks: People Power
$0.00
The theme for our special Anzac Day Green Drinks is People Power: Our roadmap to clean energy!
We’ll consider the national big picture and look at how regional communities are making it happen – especially in our own region!
From a national perspective – We’ll look at the recommendations in the Climate Council’s latest report, ‘Clean & Reliable Power: Roadmap To A Renewable Future’. They believe Australia can cut its rising greenhouse gas pollution levels, while continuing the transition to clean, affordable and reliable renewable energy and storage technology.
From a local perspective – Dan Cowdell, GS CORE Project Coordinator will explain two current renewable energy initiatives:
- He’ll give an overview of our Community Owned Renewable Energy project – CORE Geelong One Pty Ltd, which has launched and is now seeking community investors.
- He’ll provide an advance briefing about our Geelong Community Solar Program which launches mid May and will offer exclusive bulk-buy discounts on solar &/or battery systems.
From a regional perspective – We’ll look at the various models showcased in the recent ABC Landline program, People Power: Communities funding their own wind and solar projects. Their reporters found that regional communities are leading the way in the supply of fair-priced, sustainable, reliable electricity – by funding their own renewable energy projects.
Afterwards there’ll be time for discussion about our current and possible future projects.
Entry just $2 gold coin on the night – Finger food provided – Drinks at bar prices.
