Sustainable Living Festival is coming to Geelong! Geelong Sustainability, in partnership with Common Ground Project, is excited to be offering Regeneration: Exploring a regenerative farming and food system event as part of the Sustainable Living Festival.
Sustainable Living Festival’s mission is simple: accelerate the uptake of sustainable living and address the global climate and biodiversity emergencies. With over 100,000 visits every year, the event is the largest sustainability festival in Australia — and not just in numbers, but also in impact. By showcasing cutting-edge solutions to ecological and social challenges, the Festival fosters and provides tools for the change we want to see and the difference we want to make in the world.’
Geelong Sustainability and Common Ground Project are bringing the important conversation about regeneration to our community with a particular focus on regenerative farming. Our lands, soils and food systems are in crisis, and building regenerative farming and food ecosystems at many different scales is more important than ever.
Geelong Sustainability CEO, Dan Cowdell says “We are thrilled to be partnering with Common Ground Project to start this important community discussion about the regeneration of our soils. Local food production is an essential part of building community resilience and how we as community members can respond to the challenges of climate change. It’s going to be an inspiring event and we welcome any interested community members to attend”. This event will explore this interesting topic during an interactive tour of the Common Ground Project – a regenerative farm and social enterprise in Freshwater Creek. This is a great opportunity to meet like minded people in a night of networking, inspiring conversations and topics, drinks and live music. As we weave through beds of beetroots and greens, this interactive tour will discuss:
- What regenerative farming is, and how it can be practiced on a small-scale farm
- Understanding the link between soil health and human health
- Bringing the community back into farming and food systems
- How you can get involved in your home and community
