What is a Scorecard assessment?
The Scorecard is an in-person inspection of your home’s building fabric and fixed appliances and is used to establish comfort levels and generate an energy star rating.
The Scorecard has been developed by the Victorian Government to help Victorians better understand the energy performance of their homes and to make informed choices about improving the quality of their living environment, while saving money on their gas and electricity bills and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Scorecard is delivered by independent accredited assessors using the government-supported Scorecard tool. The assessor rates the energy efficiency of your home’s construction, fixed appliances, and other key features such as solar PV energy production. The Scorecard also rates how comfortable your home is in hot and cold weather with a goal of uncovering weak points in your building fabric.
Many Victorian homes have high energy bills simply due to the way the home is built. The Scorecard helps you understand and improve all aspects of your homes thermal efficiency and energy consumption.

Booking a Scorecard assessment
Geelong Sustainability offers Scorecard Assessments that are performed by local highly skilled accredited assessors in the Geelong, Bellarine and Surf Coast regions.
Cost for the assessments varies depending on the location of the home, and any government rebates available. An assessment of a typical 3-bedroom home usually takes between 1.5 to 2 hrs to complete. Please enquire about assessment costs for locations outside of Geelong.
An accredited assessor will visit your home to conduct a thorough on-site assessment. They will collect data covering construction materials, insulation, weather seals, hot water system, heating, cooling, lighting and any renewable energy sources.
At the end of the assessment, you will receive a certificate showing the overall star rating, hot and cold weather comfort ratings and other information including upgrade advice specific to your home.
