Urban Harvest: Composting in a Circular Economy
It is time to ReThink RESOURCE rather than waste!
Composting food scraps enriches the soil, helps retain moisture and suppresses diseases and pests. It encourages production of beneficial bacteria and fungi that break down organic matter all while reducing methane emissions and your carbon footprint.
This seminar will focus on the barriers and solutions to home composting. Composting can be done in many surprising ways and we will offer practical, expert advice on how to make this sustainable practice work to create an edible garden you would be proud of.
We will explore how Permaculture Design enhances your home, demonstrating the many benefits of a closed loop economy to the environment, community, your health and well-being.
BEN SHAW our presenter, runs edible gardening workshops all year round for both adults and children. He consults locally with families and businesses on how to design and build their gardens to get maximum yields and also achieve aesthetically beautiful gardens. His life is healthier, more fulfilling, more community minded, and a significant part of this has been achieved through the simple act of growing food.
