Geelong Sustainability wants everyone to have access to clean affordable energy. By going solar, people can reduce their power bills, gain energy independence and be part of the transition to a clean, renewable energy future.
However going solar can be confusing. What size system do I need? Which technologies are the best value? Are batteries worth it?
This Solar 101 presentation will answer all the key questions about rooftop solar and battery storage. It will explain,
- the technical components – panels, inverters and batteries
- the concept of self-consumption and right sizing
- the types of rebates available and even why feed in tariffs are reducing.
This online seminar will be presented by Tom McKenzie, Business Development Manager for RACV Solar. Geelong Sustainability partnered with RACV Solar in the very successful Geelong+ Community Solar Program, which resulted in over 2.5MW of solar and battery storage being installed in our region.
Across Greater Geelong just over 21% of buildings have rooftop solar. The uptake of solar power needs to more than double if we are to meet the state government’s target (VRET) of 50% renewables by 2030!
