Why volunteer in opposition to this project?
The Viva Energy Gas Import Terminal proposal is deeply flawed, posing serious risks to our climate, community and environment:
- A climate disaster: Adding 600,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, the project undermines our ability to meet critical emissions reduction targets.
- A safety disaster: Dangerous gas tankers would come within 220 meters of residential homes, creating unacceptable safety risks.
- Extensive dredging would harm marine life, would impact the recreational use of our beautiful bay, and spoil the view of our iconic waterfront.
We’re at a pivotal moment in the campaign, with the Planning Minister making her decision in the next few months.
