May Green Drinks: Farming in the Age of Climate Change
$5.00
Farmers are well-used to fighting the elements but climate change is escalating the challenge. Can farming be profitable and sustainable in the age of climate change?
Well one local farming family says, yes it can!The Stewart family has been farming for five generations on their 230 hectare property, nestled in the Otway Ranges. Andrew and Jill Stewart farm sheep and trees on their property, Yan Yan Gurt West Farm in Deans Marsh. Their perhaps unusual but effective approach combines conservation and forestry.
Beginning in the 1960s they have embarked upon a journey of agricultural regeneration and landscape diversification. Andrew runs customised farm tours and is Coordinator of the Otway Agroforestry Network.
Come along and meet Andrew, Jill and their daughters. We’re in for a captivating evening as they explain how their re-vegetation plan has transformed their land into a more healthy, profitable and joyful place to farm.
Drinks at bar prices and nibbles provided.
Cost: $5 or $3 (GS members)
