Innovative Options for Affordable Housing
$5.00
The first 2019 Clever Living Seminar takes a look into the possibilities for citizen-led development; enabling residents to take control of the design of their own high quality, and collective housing. By working as a collective, the model provides a more affordable alternative for people to design their compact home.
Our presenters Katherine, Lisa and Tim have experience in the planning, design and delivery of innovative housing models, and are passionate about the possibility of these flexible housing models to demonstrate a more socially and environmentally sustainable alternative to investor-oriented housing in the rapidly growing Geelong region.
Katherine Sundermann has worked on and researched European housing developments. She is passionate about learning from citizen-led development models in order to promote more diverse and inclusive neighbourhoods.
Lisa Garner is a designer/researcher at Swinburne Centre for Urban Transition, using design research and testing to propose alternative models with a higher environmental and social performance. She brings a fresh approach to planning issues to enable high quality living environments.
Tim Riley founder of Property Collectives, a citizen-led housing model that brings people together to develop homes at cost. His aim is to create buildings with architectural and environmental integrity, that generate real financial and social capital for all members of the collective.
