Event Details
The site has three key functions: the Resource Recovery Centre, the landfilling waste cells and waste-to-energy methane extraction facility. Annually the site processes 100,000 tonnes waste/recycling which including:
- 38 tonnes of glass
- 20 tonnes of hard plastics
- 30,000 litres of Waste oil
- 37 tonnes of paint
- 100 tonnes of E-waste
- 24 tonnes of car batteries
- 1,100 tonnes of scrap metal
- 1700 Tyres
- 3,100 Mattresses
- 2,220 tonnes of hard Waste
- 350 tonnes of cardboard
- 800 BBQ gas bottles
- 3000 tonnes of green waste
The cells at Drysdale Landfill generate over 2.5 million litres of leachate which is pumped from the bottom of each cell into an evaporation pond. The facility processes all stormwater onsite with an inhouse water clarifier which can handle around 40 million litres.
- Tour runs for one hour, with a free shuttle bus service to and from the landfill site
- Please bring a facemask to wear while on the bus, a water bottle and wear closed-toe shoes
- Please arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time of your tour
- Bookings close 2pm the day prior to each tour
