Our Climate Christmas event is aimed to celebrate the year’s accomplishments, bring together like-minded individuals, promote sustainable options for the festive season, and facilitate our community making a commitment to climate action for the coming year.
We would love to see you there, what to expect:
- What a year: Celebrate and reflect our community’s impact this year in showing up for this climate emergency. Learn about what we achieved at Geelong Sustainability and the positive environmental changes our community has contributed to.
- Sustainable Christmas Tips: We will be having a guest speaker sharing eco-friendly tips and tricks to celebrate the holidays. Our guest speaker will share practical insights on eco friendly gift ideas and wrapping, eco-conscious decorations, and environmentally friendly festive feasts.
- Networking and Community Building: Connect with like-minded individuals passionate about sustainability and create new friendships.
- Climate Commitment for 2024: We will facilitate a climate commitment activity, where you will have the opportunity to consider the coming year and make a pledge about an action/s that you can make in the year coming to create the future we are actively creating.
Guest Speaker: Jess Hobbs will be joining us to share about how to create a more eco-conscious Christmas. Jess is passionate on zero waste living and will be sharing with us some key ways to make your Christmas more sustainable.
Jess has been interested and involved in circular economy practices for most of her life. She has worked with Geelong Sustainability to deliver the Green Cafes project (2020) and the Single-use Plastic Business Engagement project (2022). Jess is known in the community for her passion around waste reduction.
This event will have more of a focus on networking than our usual Green Drinks, allowing for more of a chance for people to connect and get to know one another. Finger food is provided with drinks available at bar prices.
