Pannellists:
Tim Adams
Tim is extremely knowledgeable with 40 years’ experience as a building designer, and has a reputation for cost effective, high performance houses. Tim is a registered building practitioner, Accredited Energy Rater, Fellow and Past President of the Building Design Association of Victoria (BDAV / Design Matters National) where he initiated the BDAV 10 Star Challenge. Tim presents frequently at public events, radio shows and industry conferences. He also writes for several technical publications. The House with No Bills in Renew 120 was a description of Tim’s own high performance house which has delivered carbon neutrality and costs nothing to run.
Bev Merrett
Bev Merrett was one of our Sustainable House Day homeowners last year and has been passionate about sustainable design since High School. Bev finally realised her vision of creating a unique and sustainable home for her family in 2020. Bev focused on reconfiguring the house to maximise passive design for energy efficiency, temperature control and liveability. Materials were re-used where possible and additional recycled elements added for sustainability and character. The addition of a 6.4kw PV system plus electric cooking and heating, means the house is well on the way to becoming a carbon neutral home. Bev has recently launched Greater Good Co, an enterprise focused on empowering authentic and sustainable living, working and being.
Tom Bodycomb
Tom has a Bachelor of Engineering degree and worked with a multinational company in Australia and Europe before transitioning into the publishing sector.
In 2007 Tom launched green magazine with Tamsin O’Neill (editor). The national publication focuses on sustainable architecture and landscape design. Six issues are produced per year and a complementary website is a detailed online resource for homeowners planning a renovation or new project.
