Event Details

Join us to hear from a panel of people sharing their knowledge and thoughts on the future of transport with conversations about E-bikes, EVs and active transport. This is your chance to ask questions you might have about EV’s and E-Bikes and how you might plan to utilize these for your transport needs. The technologies are quickly changing and more and more people are curious about how they might decarbonise their transport and transition their transport for their own individual health and the health of the planet.

This will be a wonderful night of hearing from experts and personal enthusiasts for EV’s and E-Bikes. We would love for you to join us for some community networking and education around this important topic.

Panellists

Greg Lacey from Bright Spark

Greg is a qualified, accredited driving instructor and electric vehicle enthusiast who is passionate about road safety and working with a diverse range of people across Geelong. Greg is an advocate for environmental sustainability and action on climate change but recognises the social and economic need for personal transportation in our society. Greg is Regional Victoria’s first specialist EV driving instructor, using a 2020 ZE1 Nissan Leaf fitted with dual controls for driver training (the first of its type in Victoria). Greg chose a ZE1 Nissan Leaf as it is one of the most affordable and available fully electric vehicles in Australia, with a history dating back the last decade. It is one of the most ‘normal’ looking and functioning, fully electric vehicles on the road, ensuring a seamless skills transition between this vehicle and conventional petrol, LPG or diesel-powered vehicles that learner drivers may also gain experience in.

John Paul from Good Cycles

John Paul is a Mechanic and the Manager of the Geelong Shop. He has travelled by bike and on foot through 34 countries in Asia, Africa, the Americas and Europe, and has covered over 20,000km of road, gravel and singletrack in Victoria.

His current cycling hero is ultra endurance cyclist Lael Wilcox: “I really like her lifestyle as an adventurer and her ‘I just want to ride’ attitude”.

As a Mechanic, John Paul is more than happy to fix bikes for his customers at Good Cycles, but as a rider he is keen to share his cycling routes and ride experiences for anyone that wants to explore the world by bike.

Emilie Flynn from Geelong Sustainability

Emilie is Geelong Sustainability’s Executive Assistant and an avid e-bike enthusiast. She took the plunge in early 2023 to buy herself an e-bike and sell her car. Though she doesn’t consider herself to be particularly fit or active, she’s found the switch to be hugely beneficial to her mental and physical health, as well as her hip pocket.
