Small Business Energy Saver Program
The Project
The Small Business Energy Saver Program was a state government initiative designed to help small businesses reduce both their running costs and their carbon emissions by providing generous rebates on items such as fridges, freezers and air conditioners. These upgrades would assist businesses with reducing both their energy costs and carbon emissions. Geelong Sustainability was contracted by Sustainability Victoria to deliver this program by engaging directly with 500 businesses across the Barwon South West region.
The Results
Throughout the period of September 2021 to June 2022, Geelong Sustainability engaged with a total of 515 businesses, from Queenscliff to Portland, regarding their current appliances and energy usage. Of these businesses, we were able to refer 208 to an Accredited Provider to further discuss their eligibility for the program, and whether any of the current offerings were suited to their needs. A total of 64 businesses completed energy upgrades through the program.
