Geelong Real Deal Table Talk

Geelong Sustainability has been involved with the Geelong Real Deal project for the last six months, and we are so excited to share the next big event with you, our supporters.

The project and its events are all about building power and community through connection and story-telling. We invite any and all Greater Geelong residents to share their stories about Geelong’s past and present, and what you envision for our future. These stories could be around any theme from employment to housing, though of course we tend to look at these issues through a climate lens.

On Thursday 23 February, we invite you to participate in our next Table Talk. We will place you on a table of 4-6 other people, explain to the room in-depth what the project is about, model the kind of 1-2 minute ‘stories’ we’d like each person to share, then invite each person to share their stories with their table. We will do this process three times – once to discuss Geelong’s past, once to talk about our current pressures, and finally to discuss our vision for the city’s future. Sharing is completely voluntary, and we will ask for consent to document your story anonymously.

The night will run as follows:

5:45pm: arrival, find your table, complete consent form
6:00pm: introduction, explanation of project, story modelling
6:45pm: sharing of stories
7:30pm: event concludes; networking and refreshments
