What’s it all about?
Upcycling is the new wave of sustainable fashion. During this class you will upcycle a pre-loved knitted jumper into mittens for the winter.
What will we cover?
You will learn about the creativity of upcycling and why we need to consider the environmental impact of the fashion industry and our consumer habits. To complete your upcycling project you will learn the techniques of pattern making, cutting and hand sewing. In contrast to reusing or recycling, upcycling uses existing materials to create a new, one-of-a-kind piece. You will give a pre-loved garment a new, more stylish life in this class and have some fun along the way.
What you will need to bring
- a preloved knitted jumper
- a pair of fabric scissors
- Pen or Pencil
Thread, needles and tracing paper will be supplied for use in the class.
