    What’s it all about?

Learn from the Rogue Ginger, a zero waste warrior who over a period of 18 months could fit her total rubbish collection into a small jar. She also had a zero waste wedding!

Her motivation was the dire state of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch (a collection of marine debris) in the North Pacific Ocean which is choking our marine life. The patch is actually comprised of the Western Garbage Patch, located near Japan, and the Eastern Garbage Patch, located between the U.S. states of Hawaii and California.

    What will we cover?

You will learn how to think differently about waste. She offers many plastic free living alternatives to shopping, cooking, makeup, fashion, cleaning and travel.  Living with less can lead to a happier and healthier life, she is living proof. The Rogue Ginger is full of helpful tips that are good for you and the earth.

    Who will be teaching?

Erin Rhoads is the curious lady behind the Rogue Ginger, Australia's popular eco lifestyle website on low waste living.  She lives in Melbourne and is a new mum. A sought-after writer and speaker, Erin has inspired others to think differently about plastic and rubbish, proving that living with less can lead to a happier and healthier life. She is a regular contributor on ABC Radio; shares skills and ideas to hundreds at workshops, talks and forums; featured by BBC World, The Project, Sunrise, The Morning Show, The Age, Herald Sun, Marie Claire, Peppermint Magazine and many more.

  • Sustainable House Day Geelong 2017

Sustainable House Day continues to be our most popular annual event. WHY? Because it gives people the opportunity to see inside houses that have been designed, built, renovated or retro-fitted with sustainability in mind.  It's an inspirational event in which people can see and explore the latest building materials, design ideas and technologies. In addition, most homes have technical experts, such as builders, architects and solar designers on-site to explain specific features and answer questions from visitors.

SHD2017 in Geelong and surrounding region is Sunday 15 October.

Do you have an 8+ star home? Does your home have ESD (Environmentally Sustainable Design) features?
If YES, would you be willing to share your knowledge and experience with the public?

If YES, contact the SHD Coordinator at or 0425 802 116 for more information or to arrange a site visit.
