GEELONG GREEN DRINKS

Come along and join in Geelong's transition to a cleaner, greener economy and to a happier, more connected and resilient community. Bring a friend or work mate to this informal get together after work and find out what's happening in the sustainability and environmental sector, locally and beyond.

Where: Beav's Bar, 77 Lt Malop St Geelong (unless otherwise notified)
When: Wednesday 5:30–7:30pm (usually 4th Wednesday in month)

2016 Dates: 23 March, 27 April, 25 May, 22 June, 27 July, 24 August, 28 September, 26 October & lastly 23 November.

Format: Each month we select a different theme and invite a keynote speaker to speak for 15-20 minutes at around 6pm. Sometimes we have movies. There's also an opportunity for a few 1-2 minute pop-up slots to promote upcoming events or campaigns. 
Contact the organisers if you'd like a speaking slot or if you have ideas for topics we should address or great speakers.
There's lots of time for networking and discussion.

Keynote Topic: Our Changing Coastline

Our coastline is the frontline in the battle against general erosion and storms plus the effects of sea level rise and climate change. 


This session will answer the following key questions:

  • How is the coastline being monitored?
  • What does the research predict for our coastline?
  • What's the difference between mitigation and adaption strategies?
  • Which engineering approaches are more effective?
  • What can you do to help?
