Free home Ceiling Insulation - Abolished
As of 22 April 2010 the Federal Government has decided to scrap its $1000 rebate for householders putting in insulation in their ceilings. The government will use the remaining funds to fix tens of thousands of the original installations.
The program was suspended in February 2010, and originally it was promised that the scheme would be available from June as part of a new renewable energy bonus scheme.

FREE HOME CEILING INSULATION
As part of the
Federal Government Energy Efficiency Homes Package the Federal Government is offering grants of up to $1600 for ceiling insulation.
The grants are not means tested - they are open to all Australian home owner occupiers
The house must not currently have ceiling insulation installed.
Some estimates are that 40 per cent of Australian homes are not insulated.
If you are a
renter, there is a rebate for landlords on the costs of insulating their rental properties
For most houses the $1600 grant will cover the full cost of insulation. So if your house is not insulated, this is certainly a cost effective way to make a big difference to your carbon footprint.
