Car Sharing in Geelong
We have provided information below on car sharing in Geelong. If anyone would like to take this on as a project, let us know. Click
here to go to a paper written by Darren McLelland about advocating to local councils for better car pooling arrangements
Hi Dave,
Just joined up – group looks good.
I
am also trying to drum up some support to convince one of the 2 car
share companies in Melb. to position a car in Geelong (see email
below).
Both companies have a position on their website for people
to register interest and sound like they could be swayed into providing
a car if interest is high enough.

www.goget.com.au I will try and get to your next mtg and look forward to meeting you then.

Hi Glen,
Thanks for your email and suggestion.
As
you have noticed our service is concentrated in Melbourne’s CBD, but
following our growth plan, we are expanding from the city outwards.
This is the plan to eventually have Flexicars in activity business
centres such as Camberwell and Box Hill for instance, and following the
train lines.
And even on the long term in Geelong, but not within the next few years unfortunately.
At
the moment we are working at filling the gaps between our existing
locations, we’ll have new car locations within a few months in Port
Melbourne, Brunswick, Kensington and South Yarra for instance.
In
regards with adding cars to our network, this is how it works at our
end: we add cars in response to local demand - and this is where you
could help us!
If you know of friends, family and local
businesses in Geelong and who are interested in using Flexicar, get
them to register their interest on our website at www.flexicar.com.au.
The
more registrations we have from Geelong the sooner it will be that we
add cars in the area. You can tell friends, family and local businesses
about Flexicar at http://www.flexicar.com.au/modules/email_friend/
If you have any other queries simply email or call us on 1300 36 37 80.
Best Regards,
Greg @ the Flexicar Team

Full Moon bike rides in Geelong
See
http://www.myspace.com/fullmoonbikeridesgeelongThese rides are aimed at beginners taking up cycling, are very community oriented, free, and may well be attractive to some of your members/ supporters.
What’s in it for my collegues and I? Nothing.
We are about getting more people riding bikes and boosting community spirit, which I think fits well with the principles of your group.
The next ride is Saturday the 13th December, leaving from outside Café 9 Zero at 90 Pakington St, Geelong West. Further details are at the above site.
It would be great if you could have a link from your site to the one above for all future full moon rides.
Thanks for your time
