2012 Sustainable House Day - Sunday 9th Sept
Report on Sustainable House Day 2012
In September each year, Geelong Sustainability Group hosts Sustainable House Day in Geelong. In 2011 we had an estimated 1,450 visits to seven homes while in 2012, an estimated 2,500 visits to nine homes. Each year we have a great spread of new and retrofitted homes on display.
Thanks must go to the 65 volunteers, the many architects who volunteered their time and in particular, to Monica Winston, GSG vice-president who took on the vast task of bringing this major event together.
Some of the feedback from Sustainable House Day 2012:
- Congratulations on a fantastic job of organising sustainable house day! A bringer-together-of-people-extraordinaire! Well done! - Mary Ebbott, Belmont.
- Thank you for opening your house and the great day. We thoroughly enjoyed
being involved. - Briony Darcy and Leon Eyck, DE atelier Architects to home owner Jen Hall, Ocean Grove.
- Congratulations on organising an excellent day - I was thrilled with the numbers of people visiting the Barwon Heads houses - it seemed like most were on a tour of most/all the SHD houses in the region. Excellent! - Anthony Mangelsdorf, Project Manager, Barwon Heads Sustainability Group and volunteer at one of the two houses open in Barwon Heads.
- The day was a huge success with plenty of genuine interest in all things sustainable. The visitor count was an amazing 461! Glad to have been involved - Chris and Neville Wright, home owners Barwon Heads.
